Elizabeth Ann Adkisson of Woodville, Texas was born June 21, 1943 to Ed and Ouida Walker Adkisson.
She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at her home in Woodville, Texas after a brief battle with cancer.
She is survived by her beloved cousins, friends, and pets-dogs "Jazz" and "Sadie" as well as her cats "Omama" and "Gracie".
She was a brilliant student and made the Dean's List of each university she attended. After college she taught performing arts in Sacramento, California, Ashland, Oregon and Birmingham, Alabama. She took a personal interest in seeing that her young friends and relatives received an education.
She loved singing, dancing, acting, gardening, playing board games, the fine arts and travel. She looked forward to making cucumber soup from her homegrown cucumbers as well as canning her tomatoes and plums every summer. She loved studying new subjects and in recent years took on lay speaker duties at Homer Community Church. She embraced Biblical storytelling, and was active on local, state, and national levels, achieving the level of Master Biblical storyteller. Elizabeth was a Hospice volunteer for several years in Jasper and Tyler counties. She enjoyed frequent contact with members of her graduating class of 1961 from French High School.
She initiated the "River of Life" program in Woodville and helped many women move forward in their lives. She felt especially blessed to participate with the Greater Jasper Praise Choir.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
A Memorial Service honoring Elizabeth will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 3430 Harrison, Beaumont, Texas at 1:30 p.m.
