Elijio DeLeon Garcia was born on September 12, 1946 in Falfurrias, Texas to Exiquio and Hortencia DeLeon Garcia. He served his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He married Concepcion Cruz in Premont, Texas on July 10, 1971. He has lived in Simonton, Texas for the last 20 years. Elijio loved gardening, going to the movies and watching westerners on television.
Elijio DeLeon Garcia passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, in Katy, Texas at the age of 73.
He is survived by his wife, Concepcion(Connie) Garcia of Simonton; mother, Hortencia Garcia of Fort Worth; children, RosAnna Garcia of Simonton, Beatriz Yarrish and her husband Frank of Richmond, and Javier Garcia and his wife Jennifer of Katy; siblings, Pete Garcia and his wife Sharon of Missouri, Mario Garcia and his wife Peggy of Kerrville, Exiquio Garcia, Jr. and his wife Lupe of Kerrville, Jorge Garcia of Kerrville, Dementria Newgard and her husband Steven of Fort Worth, and Juanita Surman and her husband Mitch of Fifield, Wisconsin; and four grandchildren, Noah Fisher, Daniel Garcia, Kali Yarrish, and Reece Yarrish. He was preceded in death by his father; three sisters, Isabel Garcia, Lydia Garcia, and Inez Garcia.
Interment will be private at Houston National Cemetery.
Funeral services held under the direction of Schmidt Funeral Home, Katy, Texas.
