CARTHAGE – Eli Jacob Hickerson, age 30, of Carthage, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022. On October 4, 1991, sharing a birthday with his Papaw Hickerson, Eli was born in Greenfield as the son of Danny Hickerson and Anna (Peacock) Grizzell. He graduated from Eastern Hancock High School in 2010 and received his associate degree in diesel mechanics from Wyotech.
He worked at M & K Truck Centers as a Diesel Technician and was recognized as an Engine Master Technician. He loved working on small repairs, everything from chainsaws to dirt bikes. Eli was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan. He enjoyed going fishing and watching all kinds of sports. Above all, Eli was a genuine family man. Known as the family jokester, he could always put a smile on everyone’s face. He loved his nieces, nephews, and dog, Reggie very much and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Eli is survived by his dad, Danny Hickerson of Greenfield; mom, Anna Grizzell (Jeff) of Morristown; grandfather, Wayne Grizzell of Texas; brother, Brandon Kidd (Sammi) of Greenfield; sisters, Christina Ballard (Tyler) of Spiceland, Emily Fletcher (Aaron) of Morristown, and Sydney Smith (Cory) of Dunreith; nieces and nephews, Hayden, Macey, Chyan, Landyn, Charlee, Summer, Logan, Mia, Blakely and Maverick; and significant other, Trisha O’Neill; and her children who he loved like his own, Keegan, Kiersten, and Charlee Jo. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Carolyn Peacock; paternal grandparents, Palmer and Virginia Hickerson; grandmother, Pam Grizzell; aunt Tracy Guzman; and Justin “Peanut” Locker.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, July 22, 2022 at Brandywine Community Church, 1551 E. New Rd., Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00am at the church. Pastor Tommy Hensley will be officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Arrangements are being handled by Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield.
In lieu of flowers, Eli’s family will be creating a future scholarship in his memory. Scholarship contributions can be sent to Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US 40, Greenfield, IN 46140 with checks made payable to Jeff Grizzell. Envelopes will be available at the church.
