Elfreda Lorch Bowen, 94, widow of Clyde Bowen, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019. She was born on April 3, 1925 in Stuttgart, Germany to the late Martin and Johanna Lorch. Ms. Bowen was a Postmaster for over 27 years. Her job was so special to her. She would often say she would work there even if they didn't pay her. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Humana Hospital, which is now known as St. Joseph East. Ms. Bowen was a past president of the Homemakers Association and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Hans-Martin Lorch and her daughter, Joanna Neace. She is lovingly survived by her one special granddaughter, Christina Bowen, Lexington; her son, Clyde (Candice) Bowen, Jr, Hazard; sister, Anita Schneider, Germany; brothers, Hermann (Lotte) Lorch, Germany and Rainer (Carole) Lorch, CA; grandsons, Joshua (Kayla) Neace and Colton Bowen; and granddaughters, Jessica (Richard) Brewer, Sarah Bowen and Stacy Bowen. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. A Gathering of Family and Friends was held December 21, 2019 from at Clark Legacy Center, Nicholasville, KY.
