With heavy hearts, our family regrets to announce the passing of our beloved Eldred "Mickey" Hendricks on July 12, 2021. Mickey was a long-time resident of Charlottesville after moving there from Hampton, Virginia in 1953 to attend the University of Virginia. After graduating from UVA, Mickey transitioned into a lifelong career with the University where he held many positions before retiring as an Assistant Dean in 1983.
Mickey provided a lifetime of service in various community activities and charities to include reestablishing the YMCA of Charlottesville and serving on various Boards in the Charlottesville area. His sharp wit, dry sense of humor, love for learning, warm heart, incredible knowledge, and generous spirit will be deeply missed. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fenton Rudolph "Rudy" Hendricks, Sr. Mickey is survived by his sister Linda McKnight, sister-in-law, Betty Strasser, many nieces and nephews, and beloved friends Mirtha, Oscar, Paula Rondon and Moisis "Mo" James.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Clark Cemetery in Hampton, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to a charity which is close to your heart in honor of Mickey's commitment to making the world a better place.
