Eldon Charles McCammack, 85, of New Castle passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at the home of his daughter. He was born June 18, 1935 in Putnam County, Indiana, a son of the late Gilbert and Mildred (Hostetler) McCammack.
He was a 1953 graduate of Belle Union High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Eldon retired from Vectren (formerly Indiana Gas Company) in 1997 after many years of service. He was a member of New Castle Breakfast Optimist Club for 37 years. Eldon was a member of First Baptist Church in New Castle and previously an active member First Baptist Church in Muncie. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves four children to cherish his memory, Russ (Delori) McCammack of Greenwood, Clyde (Kim) McCammack of Greenwood, Alan (Pam) McCammack of Knightstown and Debbie (Skip) Carter of New Castle; eight grandchildren, Sarah McCammack, Amanda McCammack Rehm, Holly McCammack Fox, Emily McCammack Follen, Abigail McCammack Amburgy, Katie McCammack, Austin Carter and Chris Carter; great grandchildren, Ryleigh Young, Alek Young, Archie Rehm and William Fox; and two nephews, Kenny McCammack and Mitch McCammack.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy L. McCammack; and two brothers, Earl McCammack & Emil McCammack.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Dr. Clyde McCammack officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until time of services. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion, VFW and a contingent of the U.S. Army.
