Eldene J. Mohl, age 88, passed away on February 26th in Sarasota, Florida where she resided since 2005. She is survived and will be missed immensely by her four children Rabbi Ilana Axel (Mark Axel), Larry Mohl (Carly Miller Mohl), Dan Mohl, and Steve Mohl (Natasha Mohl). She is also survived by her sister, Sheila Bernstein, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Deitchman and a beloved extended family. She was a loving and proud "Savta" to Yonatan Axel, Timna Axel (Rebecca Ewert), Tahel Axel, Lawson Mohl, and Erden Mohl.
Eldene was married to Dr. Norman Mohl, who pre-deceased her in 2021. Together they enjoyed a life full of loving family, travel, and entertaining friends from around the world.
Eldene was a woman who loved beauty. She had an appreciation for aesthetics and the attention to detail required to make people feel welcomed, special, and well fed. She was a lover of dance, theater, music, and art. She enjoyed serving as a docent for many years at her beloved Albright-Knox Art Gallery in her hometown of Buffalo, New York. Judaism played an important role in her life, and she was a long-time member of Temple Beth Am in Buffalo and Temple Sinai in Sarasota.
Eldene was accepted to the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, but her life led her instead to earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a major in Dental Hygiene. Working as a dental hygienist allowed her time to share her gifts as a dedicated and loving care giver to her growing and extended family.
A funeral service for Eldene will be held privately in Sarasota. A memorial ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 6 at 5:30 pm (Central) via Livestream at Beth Tikvah Congregation in Hoffman Estates, Illinois (https://www.beth-tikvah.org/livestream).
Donations in Eldene J. Mohl's memory are gratefully accepted to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. https://www.albrightknox.org/support
