Services for Elda Merle Dahl Eggen of Tyler, 86, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Braaten officiating under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Norse Cemetery in Clifton. Surrounded by loved ones, Mrs. Eggen passed away on July 22 in Tyler.
Mrs. Eggen was born September 4, 1931, in Clifton to the late Einar Alfred Dahl and his wife Bessie Mae Seymour Dahl. She excelled in basketball at Clifton College, and lived most of her life in Tyler and dedicated her life to her family and church. She was also very involved with her church choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma Miller of Clifton, Patsy Cranfill of Clifton, Elvis Dahl of Minnesota, and Mary Dahl of Clifton.
She is survived by her daughters Becky Riggs and husband Donny of Tyler, Kathy Eggen of Ben Wheeler and Joni Eggen of Tyler, and son Floyd Eggen, Jr. and wife Robin of Dallas; grandchildren, Gwen and Dennis Riggs, Scott Payne and wife Judy, Brian and Michael Payne and Elliot Eggen; great grandchildren Ronin Stamps, Kaiya, Barrett, Raeleigh and Kaizen Payne; brothers Ralph Dahl and wife Shirley, and Kennard Dahl and wife Charla and a great many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Scott Payne, Brian Payne, Michael Payne, Claude White, Jon Dahl, Christopher Prince, Brad Prince and Connor Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Eggen, Jr., Donny Riggs, Steve Dahl, Tommy White, Craig White, Mark Lunsford, Dale Crawford, Larry Melby and Angela Baumann.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Lloyd James Funeral Home and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Clifton Funeral Home.
