Elaine Marie Truex, 67, Wakarusa, met her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in her home. She was born on September 28, 1953, in Bremen, to Lyle Z. & Wilma Evelyn (Brechtel) Weldy. On June 15, 1973, she married the love of her life, Mark Truex. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this past June.
Surviving are her husband, Mark of Wakarusa, daughters, Michan (Ryan) Eby of Wakarusa, Carissa (Brent) Renner of Mishawaka, Melaine (Jason) Gough of Tucson, Arizona, Alysha (Casey) Yerger of Goshen, 8 precious grandchildren: Laura, Heather, Titus, Mark, Chad, Grayson, Adeline, and Evelyn. Also surviving are sister, Eva Baugham of Taylors, South Carolina, brothers, Douglas (Sun) Weldy of Osceola, Bruce (Jody) Weldy of Elkhart, sister-in-law, Glenda Weldy of Decatur, Illinois and mother-in-law, Mary Truex of Wakarusa.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brother, Roger Weldy; father-in-law, Max Truex; brother-in-law, George William Baugham and nephew, David Weldy.
Elaine was a dedicated employee of the PHM School Corporation for 37 years. She spent 25 of those years were spent as the Secretary/Treasurer at Madison Elementary School. Madison always held a special place in her heart as it was the elementary school she and her four daughters attended. She was a "believer" in the mission to make school a positive place for ALL children. She was a member of the Madison Alumni Association and involved in the Madison PTA.
As a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church in Wakarusa, she served as a Deaconess for 17 years, on the Hospitality Committee for 5 years, and leader of the Banquet Committee for 8 years. Her most passionate desire was to pass her love of the Lord on to others. As a Sunday School Teacher for 40 years, Elaine will always be remembered for her legacy of faith in her Lord Jesus, her love for HIM, her desire to teach others about faith in Christ as well as her many gifts of kindness, faithfulness, generosity, caring, and so much more. Elaine often spent many early hours of her day praying for others. She was truly a trophy of God's Grace.
When her father passed away in 2001, she devoted her God-given gift of selfless love to care for her mother. Family was very important to her. With a heart for others, she dedicated much of her time in taking care of everyone she could. Through her passion of writing, she often encouraged others with insightful words and notes. She was a deep thinker and a quiet force, with faith, friendship, and a giving heart. She was as strong as a warrior yet as gentle as a breeze.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Also, one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Bible Baptist Church, 205 E. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor David Harper and Pastor Bradley Baugham will officiate. Burial will follow at South Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Madison Elementary PTO Riley's Bike-A-Thon, Madison Township Fire Department, or Madison Township Lion's Club.
