Elaine Kay Ooms
Join us in celebrating Elaine—please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Elaine Kay Ooms was born in Hammond, Indiana on March 15, 1942 and stepped into heaven on December 7, 2020. Elaine was preceded in death by both of her parents and her husband John. Elaine had 5 children, Bill (Ronda), Russ (Jan), Randy (Kris), Eunice (Steve), and Andy. Elaine also had 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. This number could be greatly increased if we were to include all the kids who called her 'Grandma'.
Elaine was the fourth of five siblings. Her siblings are Burdette, John (deceased), Jerry (deceased), and her sister Eunice. Married to John William Ooms in 1960 and in 1969, the family moved to a small dairy farm near Wausau, WI. In 1977 the family moved south to a larger dairy farm.
During the early 1980's, the family moved to Big Rapids, MI. and a few years after, they moved to Grand Rapids, MI. She again started bible studies with women, always seeming to be drawn to those who needed to see 'grace' in action.
In 2008 John and Elaine moved to Cedaredge, CO. They became involved in a local church and once again, Elaine began a bible study, drawing in those who needed grace and began teaching them the Word of God. She loved her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Elaine's passing was quick and very unexpected. Yet, even with that, she was completely at peace, ready to take the last step of her life's journey into heaven. She has now joined that great crowd of witnesses, with her eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfector of her faith. She will be greatly missed!
