TOMAHAWK, Wis.- Elaine Marie Guthrie, age 74, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2021, at Sebring Assisted Living Facility. She was born on Aug. 25, 1947, in Spokane, Wash., the daughter of Vernon and Viola Peterson.
Elaine married Gregory Guthrie on Sept. 16, 1967, in Columbus, Mont. She graduated from Montana State University in 1969 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and taught 4th grade in Deer Lodge, Mont.
After a series of moves from Montana to Wisconsin, including a stay in New Zealand, Elaine pursued needlepoint, wood working, painting, photography and beading. She was president of the McKinley Elementary School PTO, secretary of the Bowling League, ran Art in the Park, created and sold Christmas decorations and cap-stoned her career until retirement by creating a massive bead store.
Elaine had a penchant for diving head-in, mastering her crafts, hobbies or anything she put her passion into. Whether it was being the lead note taker and organizer for her Stevens Point Trivia team, building creative Christmas ornaments to sell at the Tinsel Trail or managing and organizing her wall-to-wall bead store, Elaine was all in.
Elaine was survived by her husband of 54 years, Greg Guthrie; three children, Stephen Guthrie (Carolyn) of South Dakota, Kari Guthrie (Paul Glasspoole) of Colorado and Jeremy Guthrie (Michelle) of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, James Guthrie, Kelly Guthrie, Alex Guthrie, Ashley Guthrie, Gregory Guthrie, Brady Nilsson, Gabe Guthrie, Zachary Nilsson and Bella Guthrie; four great-grandchildren, Aubree, Kari, Lincoln and Tatum; and brother, David (Cheryl) Peterson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Viola Peterson; sister, Janice Lee; and niece, Kirsten Lee.
Private family services were held. Burial will take place at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery in Columbus, Mont.

"I love talking about my mother and if I cry, it is a beautiful thing. It is all of the unexpressed love. The grief that will remain with us, because you know we will never get enough time with each other. No matter if someone lives till 60 or 99, so I hope this grief stays with me because it is all of the unexpressed love, I didn't get to tell her and I told her." - Andrew Garfield
