Elaine C. Emerton, 94, passed away on April 1, 2022 Manchester, NH. She was born in Warner, NH on October 4, 1927, the daughter of Addison and Elsie (Morton) Colby. She was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Madeline Fuller and Jeanette Smith, and 1 brother, George Colby.
Elaine graduated from Simonds Free High School in Warner, NH and Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge, MA with a degree in nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Concord Hospital, Concord, NH, Moore General Hospital in Goffstown, and The Lemire Nursing Home, Goffstown. After her nursing career, Elaine worked for the Town of Goffstown for over 20 years, first as the Deputy Town Clerk and then was elected as the Town Clerk until her retirement.
Elaine and her husband, Larry, were very active in the Lions Club for well over 50 years, traveling both nationally and internationally. She was the president of the Goffstown Lions Club, a member of the Goffstown Mothers Club and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #16.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence A. Emerton, Sr. and great-granddaughter, Jaylen. She is survived by her son Lawrence A. Emerton, Jr. and his wife, Janice, grandsons Kevin and Scott (Dustie), granddaughter Sara, great-grandsons, Colby, Maddox and Oscar, great-granddaughter Emilia, and great-great granddaughters Aubrey and Ava. Elaine is also survived by her daughter, Dianne A. Hogan and her husband, Michael, granddaughters Corinne (partner Nick) and Tammy (partner Apollo) and granddaughter Sofia. Elaine is also survived by her nephew, George Fuller (Judy).
A graveside service will be held May 7, 2022 at 1 PM at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Warner, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Goffstown Lions Club. For more information or to sign an online guestbook, please visit www.frenchandrising.com.
