Elaine Sherron Alford April 24, 1927 - June 9, 2022 Durham, North Carolina - Elaine Sherron Alford, the matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2022 where she wanted to be in her home with the assistance of her children and a wonderful healthcare aid, Diane Leonard. She was 95 years old. She lived a rich full life spent with family and friends. Elaine was born in Durham, the daughter of the late Brantley Hocutt Sherron and Elizabeth Violet Massey Sherron. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Alford; son, Craig Alford; grandson, Wayne Alford; brothers Claboran Sherron, Hocutt Sherron, and Jack Sherron. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Judy McDuffie (Danny); sons, Mike Alford (Merle), Steve Alford (Beth), Randy Alford; grandchildren, Denise McDuffie, James McDuffie (Davinna), Dawn Gooch (Eddie), Chris Alford, Lauren Allen (Jeff), Brad Alford (Tina), Daniel Johnson (Lindsey); granddaughter in-law Penny Alford Rogers (Kenny), great-grandchildren, Rusty Gooch, Collin Alford, Sutton Allen, Reese Alford, Brinkley Allen, Bowen Allen, Kayden Johnson, Aubrie Johnson, and Harper Alford due to arrive October 2022. In her early years she was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church and later attended Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 13th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14th at Fletchers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Suzanne Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham.
