January 20, 1951 ? February 18, 2022
Eileen Drummond Cadigan, 71, of Siesta Key, FL, formerly of Orchard Park, NY and Manhasset, NY, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at Tidewell Hospice Home with her family at her side.
Surviving is her husband of 46 years, Christopher, daughter, Lauren Roberts (Douglas) and son, Peter Cadigan (Alissa), along with six cherished grandchildren: Lila, Jack, Charlie, Christopher, Oliver and Harlow.
Eileen was born January 20, 1951, the daughter of John and Agnes Drummond and sister to Patricia Johnson (Richard), and Jeanne, John (Katherine) and Michael Drummond (Linda Coveleskie).
Eileen received her BA from Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY, followed by her Masters in Education at Adelphi University, Long Island, NY. Eileen taught elementary school in the Port Washington, NY School District for 20 years, completing her teaching career as a much sought substitute teacher in the Orchard Park school system. Year after year, she was devoted to her students, saying, "I loved teaching first and second grade to see that lightbulb go off when the children mastered a skill."
Eileen radiated a joy for life. She loved building friendships on the golf course, visiting the theater, traveling, and of course, dancing. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a compassionate friend to many, and her genuine interest and concern for her loved ones was felt by all. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, Florida Cancer Specialists in Sarasota, FL or Tidewell Hospice Sarasota, all of whom assisted Eileen in her 8+ year battle with cancer.
A funeral mass will be held at her hometown parish, the Church of St. Mary in Manhasset, NY on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:15 AM. A celebration of life will also be held on Siesta Key at a later date.
