Edwin Lorenzo Larson 89, a longtime resident of Parker passed away March 31, 2022, surrounded by his family. Edwin was born December 12, 1932, in Roosevelt, Utah, the son of William Theodore and Mary Giles Larson. He attended his school years in Saint Anthony, Idaho. He was a boxer and did very well in his division. At the age of 17 he joined the Idaho Army National Guard. In 1950 he was called to active duty as the Battalion Commander. They did road construction operations in Chaun-ni Korea, improving the road through the large defile. His service in the Korean War ended in November of 1952.
On June 24, 1954, he married Myrna Dawn Orr in the Idaho Falls temple and were blessed with 9 children. He always planted a huge garden and taught his children to weed, milk the cow, feed the chickens, pigs, rabbits, and stack and chop wood. He was a hard worker and enjoyed taking his sons and grandsons hunting and fishing.
He worked for the Fremont School District for 23 years in maintenance and he had a bus route. After their children were raised, they served 2 LDS missions, one in South Carolina, and one in Texas. They served in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg temples for many years.
He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his Savior very much and showed it in his service to his family and community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey (Trisha) Larson of Rigby; Randal (Becky) Larson of Teton; Patsy (David) Crapo of Egin; Bryan (Diane) Larson of Egin; DaLea (Barry) Snell of Jonesboro, Georgia; Suzette (Tim) Peterson of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Debra (Mike) Beckstrom of Parker; Jared (Kristi) Larson of Rigby, and MANY Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Don Coy (Jan) Larson of Twin Groves.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Dawn Orr Larson, a daughter, Shelley Dawn Davies, a daughter-in-law, Sandra Lynn Miller Larson, and a grandson, Jeremy David Crapo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the Parker Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Parker Ward Church, and from 10:00-10:45 am prior to the services. Interment will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
As a family we wish to thank all of the care givers at the Homestead in Rexburg who took care of our Dad in the last few months of his life. We will be forever grateful for your love and support.
