LA PORTA EDWARD, ESQ. 91, of Media and Newton Lake, died Tuesday July 19th, 2022 at Riddle Village Retirement Community, Media. He is survived by his wife, the former Roxanna Swift; they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 6th. Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Fred and Geraldine Zaccardo La Porta. He attended Saint Simon and Jude Parish in West Chester and Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. He was a graduate of New York University Law School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Ed, along with his brother Alfred, were partners in the La Porta and La Porta Law Firm, New York City. Ed was a loving husband to the love of his life, Roxanna, with whom he shared a great life. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family and friends. He was a devoted father who took great pride in the accomplishments of his children. He was a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time and taking trips with his grandchildren. He was thrilled to recently meet his two new great grandchildren. He was an avid gardener taking great pride in his flower gardens and landscaping at his homes. He enjoyed golfing and fishing with his friends and family. During his retirement he spent his winters in Naples, Florida with his brother and friends. Also surviving are his son, Dr. Edward La Porta and wife Patricia, Broomall; his daughter, Lisa Nolin and husband Jeff, Oak Island, NC; and his son, Dr. Thomas La Porta and wife Lisa, Boalsburg; six grandchildren: Attorney Jaclyn La Porta, New York City; Alicia La Porta, Walnut Creek, CA; Christina Nolin, Maple Grove, MN; Rebecca Van Valey and husband Chris, Manhattan, IL; Abigail and Sophia La Porta, Boalsburg; two great grandchildren: Liam and Teagan Van Valey; a brother: Attorney Alfred La Porta, Croton on Hudson, NY; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Frank, Joseph and Arthur La Porta. The Funeral will be Saturday July 23rd from the BRENNAN & BRENNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 55 Lincoln Avenue, Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call Friday, from 6 to 8 P.M. and Saturday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Funeral Home. At the request of the Family, please wear a mask when attending services. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association in his name.
