Topeka--Edward Junior Koepsel, 94, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on September 20, 1926 in Riley County, Kansas, the son of Henry and Anna (Theel) Koepsel.
Ed had served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946. He then served in the U.S. Army for nine years as an aircraft mechanic and heavy equipment mechanic. He then served in the U.S. Air Force for eleven years as a jet engine mechanic until 1968. After retiring from the Air Force, he started work at Martin Tractor in Topeka as a specialized mechanic for twenty years until retiring in 1988. Ed was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, American Legion Post #1 and was a life member of the VFW in Manhattan.
On November 20, 1966, Ed was united in marriage to Delphia Eileen Conder in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
Ed and Delphia enjoyed traveling, having made three trips to Alaska and particularly enjoyed Wisconsin, Colorado and Wyoming.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife Delphia on May 21, 2016; by his parents, Henry and Anna; and by his three brothers, Charles, Paul and Herman Koepsel.
Graveside services for Ed will be at 2:00pm on Monday, February 22 at the Valley Brook Cemetery, south of Overbrook, KS.
