Edward Stewart Hughes, 94, of Brenham, TX, died on December 11, 2020.
A memorial service will be held at (Time place date) with Tim Webb officiating.
Mr. Hughes was born on December 2, 1926 to Harold Pursel and Ruth Hannah Bellis Hughes. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. He married his wife, Dorothy Weatherford, on August 7, 1953.
He worked as an Emeritus Professor of Geology at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, TX. He loved his family very much. He was an avid golfer and upon retiring to Granbury, TX, he spent all of his free time on the golf course. In 2013, he and his wife moved to Brenham to be closer to family. He was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, having spent many years serving as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He also served bravely in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in Guam from 1944-1946.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hughes of Brenham, TX; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty Correll and husband Mike of Victoria, TX, and Leslie Webb and husband Tim of Brenham, TX; daughter, Judy Slaughter of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Colten Slaughter of Dallas, TX, Kailee Slaughter of Dallas, TX, Michael Correll and wife Kasey of Victoria, TX, John Garrett Webb and wife Kelsey of Livingston, MT, and Hadley Webb; great-grandchildren, Grant and Lane Correll of Victoria, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Hughes; sister, Priscilla and husband Charles Sommers; and son-in-law, David Slaughter.
