Edward Lee Bass

Edward Lee Bass, 79, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 at his home. Edward was born on August 28, 1944 to the late Robert Ross and Harriett Estepp Bass. Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Pamela Bass.

Edward was a farmer and was a construction contractor. He also proudly served our county in the U.S. Army. He loved fishing, hunting, racing and playing poker. Ed and Pam loved traveling and vacationing in Florida.He is survived by sons, Eddie Bass (Debbie) of Nicholasville, Sammy Bass (Brenda), and Corey Bass (Emilie) both of Lancaster, grandchildren, Justin Bass (Julie), Zachary Bass, Ruby Jane Bass, Christy Spivey, Tristen Pemberton, and Tyler Bass; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Bass, Brantlee Denny, Foxx Warner, Josie Pemberton, Bronwyn Pemberton, Ally Derring, McCartney Bowman, Samatha Crawley, Tyreece Jones; many more that lovingly called him, Papaw and numerous nieces and nephews.Edward was predeceased by his parents, wife, a brother, Robert Bass Jr.; grandchild, Dakota Bass; sisters; Betty Jean Lilly and Bertha Mae Covington. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2024 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY.Pallbearers will be Eddie, Sammy, and Corey Bass, Justin Bass, Zachary Bass, John Graichen, and Frank Rice.Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Burdine, Alvin Tankersley, Kenny Watts, Billy McCollum, Virgil Smith, John Lilly, Brian Keith Rice, Mike Hale, Tommy Wethington, Rita Mattingley (Bobby), Debbie Murphy (Gene) and Diane Mohrman (Terry).A special thank you to Heritage Hospice and West Palm VA Medical Center in Florida.
