Edward A. Whitmyer
Help us celebrate Edward A.! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Edward A..
Edward Allen Whitmyer spent 68 years on Earth, making the most of life with his friends and family. He left us on May 16th, 2022 after an illness, but his crabby, loving nature will live on indefinitely. He loved singing karaoke, golf, and bowling, and had two perfect 300 games.
Born on Nov. 22, 1953 in Elkhart, Ed lived in the Edwardsburg area most of his life. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School class of 1972, and married the love of his life, Ramona Sue Sheidler, on June 25th, 1977.
Edward was retired from the Selmer Corporation of Elkhart, where he made oboes and bassoons for 39 years. More recently in his life, you could find him tinkering around the house doing handy-man repairs, or fishing on Davis Lake and the St. Joe River.
Ed leaves behind his wife, Ramona, their four children: Fred (Shanna) Whitmyer of Mishawaka, Dwayne Whitmyer of Dowagiac, Joy (William) Davis of Dowagiac, and Lloyd (Elizabeth) Whitmyer of Edwardsburg, nine grandchildren: Jordan, Piper, Leo, Max, Corey, George, Spencer, Gabbie, Alex, and his sister, Jan Read of Edwardsburg. Preceding him in death are his parents Hubert and Norma Whitmyer.
Family and friends will gather for the viewing on Sunday May 22nd, at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street in Edwardsburg, from 6:00-8:00 PM, to share memories and love. The Funeral of Remembrance will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 23rd, 2022 with one hour of viewing beforehand. Following the service will be food and drink at the Edwardsburg American Legion, and all are invited.
Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
