Edna Price of Bozeman passed peacefully at home on March 8 with family by her side.
She was born in Lewistown, MT, on October 4, 1944 to Grace and Paul Tempel. The family moved to Great Falls in 1947. After graduating from Central Catholic High School she met and married her beloved Sam who was with the USAF at the time. Their first son, Keith, was born in Great Falls. Sam was then stationed in Japan where their second son, Greg, was born. They moved back to Great Falls for several years, then decided to move to Bozeman so Sam could attend MSU. Her beloved Sam passed away in December of 1980.
Edna was always head strong and determined to do anything she put her mind to. She pursued her dreams and loved the adventure of trying new things. With that said, she then attended MSU and graduated with a BA in Business. Her career included Bozeman Job Service, then the Farm Service Agency here in Bozeman until her retirement in January of 2007.
After her retirement, she took a "leap of faith" and bought an RV and traveled throughout the United States, sometimes alone with her cat and sometimes with friends and family. I can honestly say that her trips with her granddaughters were among her favorite. She also took many trips abroad. Photography was her passion, especially while traveling. When she was not traveling around, she volunteered her time at Resurrection Parish preparing the weekly bulletin.
Edna also enjoyed working in her garden, cooking, working crossword puzzles, reading, attending live concerts, and watching Jeopardy. She was always ready for a good game of Cribbage and usually beat the pants off of us.
Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam; her son, Greg; her parents, Paul and Grace; and sister, Janet.
She is survived by her son, Keith, of Bozeman; grandchildren, Samantha Price, of Chicago, Sydney Price, of Bozeman, Hannah Wild, of Bozeman, Justin Price, of Helena; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Joe Tempel, of Arizona, John (Cheryl) Tempel of Arizona, Frank (Valerie) Tempel of Washington, Tom (Rae) Tempel of Helena, and Paulette Halvorson of Bozeman; many nieces and nephews and many special friends, including her best friend, Marsha Thill, who cared for Edna through many health problems during the last few years.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 19 at 10:00 A.M. at Resurrection Parish, followed by interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Immediately after the interment everyone is welcome to join the family for a luncheon at Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edna's honor may be made to Heart of the Valley animal shelter.
