Help us celebrate Edith! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Edith.
Edith was born in Pickens County, SC, and grew up in the area of Liberty, SC, where she went to school and worked at a drug store and textile mills. She was voted the "friendliest" person in her high school Senior Class and that was who she was her entire life. Edith was a military spouse and lived at various places, including Libya, The Philippines, Alaska, and the Washington, DC area. She worked for the Air Force as an Accounting Clerk for several years and later worked at the National Security Agency in Maryland, retiring as a Supervisory Procurement Officer. Edith loved to sing and was a member of church choirs and other chorale groups. She sang in one group that was invited to participate in a concert with the Air Force orchestra at Constitution Hall and at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree near the White House, in Washington, DC. Edith loved going to dude ranches in Arizona, Colorado, and North Carolina to ride horses. Edith's heroes were Tom Landry and Roger Staubach of the Dallas Cowboys and was even able to get Mr. Staubach's autograph. She enjoyed the warmth and sunsets where she and her husband, Gary Stidmon, live in Ocala, FL. Edith is survived by Gary, her son, Anthony Colletti (Mary), her daughter, Gail Sine (Mike), her step-son, Michael Stidmon (Kim), six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Ruby Fulbright (Thomas), Dot Franklin (Ron) and Gail Roberts (James), who all reside in the Greenville, SC, area. Edith had several other siblings who predeceased her. Edith often said that she was God's child and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
