Edith E. (Angelillo) Giordano, 93, of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at MidState Medical Center. She was the loving wife of the late Dominic L. Giordano, Sr. who predeceased her in 2022. Edith was born on September 23, 1930 in Meriden, CT, youngest of eight children, to the late Gennaro and Josephine (Gallucci) Angelillo. Edith met her husband Dominic while working at International Silver and they were blessed with over 64 years of marriage. Edith was a founding parishioner at St. Aloysisus Church in Plantsville. She loved cooking and baking, especially her delicious eggplant and the special sponge cake she would make to celebrate every birthday. Edith was a dedicated UCONN Women's Basketball fan. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Disney, Hawaii, Prince Edward Island, the Canadian Rockies and most recently, Hilton Head. She was a talented seamstress, making several clothing items for her family over the years. Most of all, Edith loved her family and cherished the time she spent babysitting her granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley. Edith is survived by two children; son, Dominic L. Giordano, Jr. of Plantsville and daughter, Lisa G. Splain and husband Steven of Cheshire, two granddaughters, Brittany Splain of New York and Ashley Splain of Baltimore, MD and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Dominic, Edith was predeceased by seven siblings; Carmel, Mary, Antoniette, Faye, John, Carl and Frank. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edith's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org). Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville with an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
