Edith LaVerne "Edie" Beal, age 90 of Baxter formerly of Crosby died at Essentia St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd on November 20, 2023. She was born in Iron Hub on September 19, 1933 to John and Edna (Rider) Wolford.
Edie was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Iron Hub, founding member and past president of the Crosby Lioness, active with both the Crosby and Aitkin Chambers of Commerce, worked with her mother at Edna's Ladies Apparel in Crosby and was a long-time employee of the Crosby and Aitkin Ben Franklin stores.
Edie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening though out her life, as well as spending time with her large extended family.
Edie is survived by two sons, Kerry Palmer of Andover, Monte (Lenka) Palmer of Freeport, FL; two daughters, Becky (Steve) McKenney of Roseburg, OR and Vanessa (Michael) Fordyce of Baxter; daughter-in-law, Bev Palmer of Brainerd; three sisters, Patricia Katzenberger of Grand Rapids, Sandy Colclough of Santa Rosa, CA and Barb (Rick) Knight of Santa Rosa, CA; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding Edie in death are her parents; 1st husband Lee Palmer; 2nd husband Stanley Beal; two children, Lanny Palmer and Keely Palmer; daughter-in-law, Anna Palmer; and two sisters, Delores Nickell and Jackie Buscher.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Iron Hub. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
