Edgar "Ed" William Wiesert, (92) of La Plata MD died on September 3, 2024 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center.
Born on December 26, 1931 in Seattle Washington. He was the son of the late Edgar J. Wiesert and Virginia Ann Wiesert (Maiden name Ottinger). Ed was the middle child of three, he had two sisters Marilyn McHugh of Sebastopol California and Virginia Boivin of Lynnwood Washington, two daughters, Carmen Slater and Pamela Wiesert of La Plata, MD and two sons, Dean of Myrtle Beach SC and Dale of La Plata MD and nine grandchildren.
Ed served in the US Army Signal Corps as an electronic technician during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1953. Ed was a long-time member of the American Legion Post 82.
After leaving the service Ed was employed by the Defense Department as an electronic technician until he again retired in 1997.
Ed always had a love for electronics both as career and as a hobby. He enjoyed carpentry work, and love helping others with their projects. Ed was an aviation enthusiast earning his private pilots license in 1971. Owning, operating and helping to maintain his aircraft for many years was one of his passions. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
