It is with great sorrow that our dearly beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Edana Hope Travis passed away at 101 years of age on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
She was born on November 23, 1920 in Coal Fork, WV in the same house in which she later shared with her husband and raised 5 children.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Virgil Lee Travis; parents Eugene and Geneva Hope; brother James G. Hope of California; daughter Dreama Travis of Virginia; granddaughter Candi Blake and son-in-laws Charles Blake and Frank Blackhurst.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters Carol Blake of Talcott, WV and Suetta Longpre (Terry) of Ellenton, FL; son Rodney Travis (Josie) of Given, WV, Gregory Travis of Charleston. She is also survived by the love of her life, her 6 grandchildren, Dr. Cara Lott (Jimmy) of Georgia, Travis Blake (Deisree) of Georgia, Christen Hull (Richard) of Lithuania, Kami Blackhurst-Barber (Raymond) of Arizona, Brandi Hope Dickie (Robert) of Tennessee and Travis Lee Longpre (Jessica) of Florida. Edana is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was one of the founding members of the Rensford Baptist Church at Campell's Creek, a member of the Coal Fork Methodist Church on Campbell's Creek and a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley.
She retired from the Kanawha County School system as a cook at Midway Elementray School and was also a Teacher's Aid.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, July 8th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. there will be a celebration of life service for Edana. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9th at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Ford Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. In lieu of flowers donation s may be made to the Hope Card & Care ministry of Epworth United Methodist Church in Ripley or to a charity of your choice.
