Edwin Baker, 72 of Plano, TX, died on February 28, 2022 of COVID-19, despite being vaccinated and boosted. He was born in Manhattan and grew up in Hartsdale, NY. A successful non-profit fundraiser, photographer, world traveler, car collector, architectural aficionado, family historian, hand-drawn Christmas card maker, and old film fanatic, Ed was a generous and caring brother, friend, uncle, and "gruncle." He attended Woodstock in 1969, but spent most of the concert helping out in the medical tent. He moved to Shreveport, LA to attend Centenary College, where he was an officer of the TKE fraternity. After graduating in 1972, Ed began the outreach work he would continue for the rest of his life, first as Executive Director of Open Ear, a crisis hotline in Shreveport. In 1977, he moved to Dallas to work for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, where he remained until retiring as the National Director of Organizational Partnerships in 2017. Ed's prized possession was his prize-winning, meticulously-restored 1966 yellow Impala convertible, which had been his first car. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Clare Baker and older brother, Doug, and is survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Joseph Scandura, sister-in-law Dina Baker, seven nieces, one nephew, 12 great nieces and nephews, several god children, and many, many, many friends.
