Earlie King, 76, of Smyrna, Georgia, sadly passed away on October 27, 2023.
He battled his illnesses for many years with dignity and courage with his best friend, caregiver, and faithful sister-in-law, Ruth Morrison at his side. Earlie was an incredible man of integrity, and valued his friendships and family. He was a good provider and a generous man. He married the love of his life, Rita McGinnis and remained faithful and in love with her until his last day. He told many stories about her on a daily basis. Their love was one of fairytales. He worked in the Union as a crane operator for Superior Rigging and Erecting for 26 years. He made his life's work an adventure and likely helped build many of the major structures throughout Georgia. He was passionate about his career and was an amazing storyteller. He had a love for trains and went on yearly rides. He had a heart for children, and over the course of his life, he and Rita blessed many children's lives. He loved a home cooked meal, and if Earlie had a choice, he'd have butter beans and Coca-Cola at every meal. Earlie was one of the good ones and will always be remembered with the upmost respect and honor. We will miss him always but have peace knowing he is in heaven reunited with Rita.
Earlie leaves behind his best friend, sister-in-law and confidant, Ruth Morrison; his nephew Doug Morrison, wife Cindy and family (Sean, Savanah, Emma, Aubree, Hudson, Corey, Cera, Lexi, and Leo); his nephew Jacky Morrison, his wife Casey and their daughter Remi; his brother-in-law Bobby Nash and his nephew BJ Nash; his sister-in-law Bonnie and family (Marty McGinnis, Jerry, McGinnis, and Kim Campbell); and his brother-in-law John McGinnis and nephew James "Jimbo" McGinnis.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 30th 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Chapel with Rev. Brian Alexander officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mozley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends for visitation before the service from 12:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.
