Earl Ziegler was born June 28, 1925 in Riverton, Wyoming to G. E. and Freda Ziegler. He died on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
He graduated high school in Maud, Oklahoma and immediately entered the U.S. Air Force. He graduated flying school and piloted a B-25 Bomber and later C-46 Transports. His assignments included being an instructor pilot in B-25 Bombers. He was stationed in the Philippines, Okinawa, Japan, and Korea.
After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, Earl received his degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Earl and Frances Ellis were married June 1, 1952. Earl worked in the oil drilling contracting business and retired in 1986. His work took him and Fran from Montana to South Louisiana, to West Texas, Mississippi, and Florida. He also spent a year in Southern Mexico as drilling superintendent for Permesa, S.A. Earl was president of Exeter Drilling Southern from 1971 to 1986. Fran and Earl moved to Dallas in 1985.
Earl's parents died January 1988 and October 1998. Fran died April 17, 2002, one day past her birthday and half a month short of their 50th wedding anniversary.
There will be no services in Dallas. Earl will be cremated and his ashes placed with Fran's in Oklahoma.
