Earl Yeahquo of Meers went to his heavenly home in Lawton with his loving family by his side.
Viewing will be Sunday Oct. 2, 2022 at the funeral home from 2 PM until 5 PM. Prayer service will be at 5 PM at Comanche Nation Funeral Home. Funeral will be 10:00 AM Monday October 3, 2022 at Mt. Scott Kiowa UMC. Burial will follow at Mt. Scott KCA Cemetery under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
He was a member of Kiowa Tribe and he was born Dec. 31, 1932, at the Indian Hospital in Lawton. Earl graduated from Cache High School in 1951 and went on to graduate from East Central University with a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Masters in Counseling. He attended Penn State University while pursuing a Doctorate of Education where he was graduate of the Penn State American Indian Leadership Program.
Earl was employed by Bureau of Indian Affairs and worked in BIA boarding schools in AZ, NM, and OK before retiring from the BIA SW Oklahoma Regional Office in Anadarko after 35 years. Earl served as the Kiowa Tribal Chairman from 2000 - 2002. Earl Yeahquo was a member of Mt. Scott Kiowa Methodist Church. He loved doing crossword puzzles, golf, and fishing. He was a fan of OU and Thunder basketball. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bess, whom he was married to for 59 years and resided in Lawton for 45 years. Earl was very proud of his only grandson Quinton Michael Impson.
He is survived by his children Rowena Yeahquo, Vallejo, CA., Russell Yeahquo and Anne Yeahquo, Lawton, one sister Irene Spotted Horse, Meers; grandson, Quinton Impson of Stillwater and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Kiowa grandparents, Jimmy and Be-ko-be-ah Quoetone; his mother May Yeahquo, and brothers, Maurice, Carl, and Alfred Yeahquo; and sisters Julia Red Elk. Gertrude Hines, Wanda Campbell, and Vivian Williams.
