Earl Edward Shives, 80, of Hummelstown, PA, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at his residence.
Born October 11, 1943 in Mercersburg, PA, he was a son of the late John William and Kathryn Virginia Hornbaker Shives. Earl was a member of the class of 1961 from James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, PA. He worked 26 years for the United Electric Supply company of Harrisburg and retired as the Vice President in 2002. Earl loved hunting and fishing and working with his hands. Earl enjoyed being outside in any weather, he absolutely loved nature and all that God created just for him. Earl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hummelstown, PA. Earl is survived by his daughter, Susan Olson of Hanover, PA, and his companion, Kim Tosh. Earl was preceded in death by his wife Frances Ametrano Shives (2016), son Troy Shives (2019) and sisters, Mary Shives (2018), and Nancy Holms. A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church 210 W Main street Hummelstown PA 17036 with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM.
