Dwight D. Dunton, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Washington, VA on January 26th, surrounded by beloved partner of 36 years, Claudia Ross, and his adoring cats. Born on September 6, 1933 in Washington D.C., Dwight spent most of his life in Alexandria, VA. A graduate of Shepherdstown College, Dwight was a proud veteran of the Korean war. He was renowned for his quick wit and endless stream of jokes. Dwight entertained his friends and family with story after story of his love of collecting stamps and coins, history, science, the stock market, business ideas, childhood, time spent in the army or about his father. He was willing to help anyone in need, especially his furry friends with four legs. Dwight spent most of his adult life as a very successful stockbroker and would spend hours reading annual reports. Dwight was an avid collector of knowledge. Dwight retired to his farm at Rose Hill in Washington, VA.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Bertha. He is survived by his partner Claudia Ross, two sons Marquis and Dwight III (fiance Camille) and his 4 granddaughters.
Dwight will be laid to rest at Rose Hill with a graveside service at 11am, Saturday Feb. 6. A celebration of life will be scheduled later this spring at Rose Hill.
