Dwain "Dewey" E. Kracht, age 50 of Markesan, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at home with his wife and children by his side after a two year battle with GBM, a very aggressive brain cancer.
Dewey was born on February 10, 1971 in Oshkosh, the son of Shirley Bowen and Paul Kracht. He graduated from Montello High School in 1989. He was united in marriage to Cheryl Hoffman on December 16, 1995 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Markesan, where he was a longtime member. Dewey worked with his dad at P&S Flooring Sales for several years and also worked for Markesan Emergency Management and Alsum Produce. He had a love for the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and time spent in the Northwoods. He also spent many years bowling on the Thursday night men's league and Saturday night couple's league at Prairie Lanes in Markesan. Dewey's three children were his pride and joy. A lot of his time was spent attending his children's sporting events cheering them on. He couldn't have been prouder.
Dewey is survived by his wife, Cheryl of Markesan; children, Noah, Kendra, and Micah, all of Markesan; father, Paul Kracht of Elcho, WI; mother, Shirley Bowen of Waupun; brother, Michael (Tammy) Kracht of Berlin; father- and mother-in-law, Larry (Lois) Rose of Markesan; brother-in-law, Robert (Brenda) Rose of Waupun; sisters-in-law, Cindy (Randy) Crook of Markesan and Candy (Terry) Yanda of Manitowoc; and further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents; two sisters, Baby Faye in infancy and Lori (Bob) Spanbauer; and other relatives.
Visitation for Dewey will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine St., Markesan from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Agnesian Hospice Hope's team for their wonderful care given to Dewey, as well as to Pastor Jobs for his frequent visits and prayers. Dewey couldn't have received better care!
