ELKHART-Dudley W. Rider, 74, passed away December 23, 2022, at Woodland Manor Nursing Home after a brave battle with Alzheimers. He was born January 14, 1948, in Mishawaka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson & Fern Rider, Norman & Shirley McCartney, first wife, Cheryl Rider, and his in-laws, Bill & Ruth Miller.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Rider, 2 daughters, Kelly (Amanda Schelle) Rider, Jaime (Jason) Stacy,1 stepdaughter, Megan (Ben) Wigonton, 2 grandchildren, Kara and Connor, 2 step grandchildren, Murphy and Brody. Also surviving is a sister, Darlene VanRie and a brother, Terry (Wanda) McCartney.
Dudley was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War, a member of the American Legion, and retired in 2015 from DePuy Synthes after over 15 years of service. He was an animal lover especially horses and cats, avid outdoorsman, enjoyed taking care of his yard, traveling, and was even a Concord band dad when his children were younger. Dudley adored both of his wives, cherished all the time he had making memories with his children and grandchildren and will be remembered as a true family man.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church on Friday, December 30, 2022. Presiding will be Fr. Craig Borchard and entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the ProMedica Hospice.
