Duane K. Huff, 90, of Lawrenceville, GA born in Olean, NY May 26, 1931, passed away peacefully in his home on April 20, 2022.
Duane is preceded in death by his loving wife, Montess, who died in October 2017. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth L. Huff (Ginny) of Norcross, GA and Dennis P. Huff of Lawrenceville, GA; daughters, Susan Huff Kallas (James) of Glendale, AZ and Cynthia McKenzie of Duluth, GA; seven grandchildren, Melissa Humphries, Stephanie Flateau, Sarah Motlong, Matthew Huff, Chelsea Huff Ginsberg, Harrison Huff and Julianna Kallas; and nine great grandchildren.
He retired in 1988 from Gwinnett County Schools where he pioneered the Elementary music education program, and taught Band and Chorus with his last 15 years at Berkmar H.S. He directed and sang in several church choirs, most recently singing at Lawrenceville FUMC.
Duane loved flying and won awards with the 1947 Aeronca Chief he restored. As a member of EAA 690 he began the Young Eagles program and personally flew 816 youth. In 2020, He was inducted into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame. Duane's friendly spirit and contagious laugh endeared him to all those he met.
Celebration of Life will be held on Sat., June 25 at First United Methodist Church, 395 W. Crogan St, Lawrenceville, GA. Visitation at 2 PM, the Service at 3:00 PM with reception following the service.
