It is with deep sadness and profound gratitude that we celebrate the life of Dr. Jon Taylor Ledlie, who passed away at the age of 75. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jon lived a life full of purpose, passion, and compassion. His journey spanned four decades in Tyler, Texas, where he dedicated both his personal and professional life to family, community, and service.
Born in Calgary, Jon grew up in Oklahoma with a deep love for the outdoors, travel, and the company of friends and family. His early years shaped his unwavering values of integrity, kindness, and joy in the simple pleasures of life. After completing his medical education, Jon made Tyler his home for over 40 years, becoming a trusted and respected neurosurgeon with Tyler Neurosurgical Associates. His career, spanning decades, was marked by his commitment to his patients, always approaching his work with exceptional skill, humility, and an unparalleled level of care. Jon's dedication to healing and helping others extended beyond his profession, touching everyone he met.
Jon was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. His strong spiritual foundation guided him through both the joys and challenges of life, and his presence in the church community was a testament to his deep sense of service and devotion. Whether it was lending a helping hand, offering words of encouragement, or simply sharing a smile, Jon's warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Jon was also a man of many passions. He loved the game of golf, enjoying countless rounds with friends and family, always with a sense of fun and camaraderie. He had an adventurous spirit, embracing travel and new experiences with Andrea, his devoted wife of 31 years. Their shared adventures took them near and far, and they created lasting memories wherever they went. But above all, Jon cherished time spent with his family?whether it was gathering around the dinner table for a home-cooked meal or making memories with his five beloved grandchildren: Kaylee McMillan, Jesse Wehba, Christian Ledlie, Tyler Ledlie, and Emma Walter. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he treasured each moment he spent with them.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Maribelle Ledlie, and is survived by his wife Andrea, children Christopher (Kari) Ledlie, Sarah Ledlie, and Ashley Cook, his sister Jan Plunkett, and many other relatives and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and love.
In honor of Jon's memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of East Texas, PATH Tyler, or a charity close to your heart?organizations that, like Jon, work to care for and uplift those in need.
Jon's legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the healing he brought, and the love he shared with all. His spirit will be missed deeply, but we find comfort in knowing that his kindness and compassion have left the world a better place. Rest in peace, dear Jon. You have earned your eternal rest, and we will carry your memory in our hearts forever.
