Dr. John Dupont Seifert, MD of Garland, Texas died October 11, 2019 of complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Nilan; son John, wife Terry; daughter Heidi; son Chris, wife Robbi; son Mark; son Tim, wife Candice; son Jason, wife Tara; son Nick, wife Kristine; 24 loving grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was born October 5, 1937 in Minneapolis, MN to Dr. Milton and Laura Seifert. John grew up in Excelsior, MN surrounded by his 6 brothers and sister. He was preceded in death by brothers Jack, Peter and Greg and is survived by brothers Milton, Paul, Tom and sister Mary. John attended St. Thomas Military Academy; College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN, and received his medical degree from Marquette University Medical School in Milwaukee, WI. He began his medical practice by joining his father and brothers at the Seifert clinic in Excelsior, MN. John served in the Army during the Vietnam war as a captain at Fort Sam, San Antonio, Texas. John began his otolaryngology medical practice in Garland, TX in 1968. John loved to travel and combined travel with volunteer medical services. He loved the outdoors: skiing, hunting, fishing, his ranch, and gardening. John loved to entertain and cook for his family and friends, he was the life of the party.
