John Arnold was born in Oxnard, California on August 16, 1925. His mother was ill at the time of his birth, so John spent the first years of his life with a relative in Anaheim, California. Upon returning to his parents, he attended Santa Clara Elementary and High School. After graduation he entered Army basic training in Arkansas and Fort Benning, Georgia. He went to France as a rifleman with the 71st Infantry Division and liberated several concentration camps. After the war ended, he attended the University of Basel. He returned to the states and attended Loyola University in Los Angeles, CA and then the University of Southern California Dental school, graduating in 1952. John began a dental practice in Oxnard and practiced for 40 years. John loved to tell the story of how he met Diane in his dental chair after a referral. John and Diane were married on May 21st, 1955, at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. They had five children: Lisa, twins Michael and Mark, Michele, and Mary.
John is predeceased by his parents Nina and Albert Arnold, his wife Diane Arnold, his infant son Mark, and son-in-law Ron Oneto. He is survived by his four children, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. John enjoyed gardening, tennis, and traveling with Diane. He was a member and chairman of the Oxnard Parks and Recreation Commission, chairman of his neighborhood council, and a proud past Grand Night of the Knights of Columbus Oxnard Council 750.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Santa Clara Church, Oxnard ,CA at 10:00 am.
