Dr. Frank Wolford Wright Jr. died on Saturday July 27th at 3:30am at The Beehive Assisted Living Facility in Lubbock Texas with his family by his side.
He was born March 18, 1935 in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High school in 1954. He graduated from Texas Technological College with a degree in Business Administration in 1958. He earned Masters Degree's in Theology from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in 1961, and Chicago Theological Seminary in 1966. In 1979 he received a PHD in higher education from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas.
For 12 years, he served as a Methodist minister serving churches in Lake Dallas, Texas and Saint Paul's United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. He was an Assistant Professor of Religion at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and assistant to the president at Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating from East Texas State University, he spent more than 20 years serving as an educational administrator in community colleges in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Kansas, and Florida... ending that chapter of his life at Texas State Technological College in Sweetwater, Texas. Also, in Sweetwater he was employed as the Director of Headstart program People for Progress, as a field supervisor for Burnett Construction Company, and finally at the Sweetwater Country Club Pro Shop.
He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, the Texas Tech alum Association, and the Texas Tech Letterman's Association. He attended the first Methodist United Church in Sweetwater where he was the Sunday School teacher for seniors.
Frank was an avid runner and triathlete. Over a 10-year period he ran six marathons, completed 40 triathlons, and at the age of 50 completed the Ironman triathlon in Hawaii.
Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Ruth Procter (Husband Denis Procter) of Lubbock Texas, and Elizabeth Wright of Sherman Oaks, California. His four grandchildren: Lanae Elias, Joshua Procter, Elizabeth Procter, and Clayton Drier (Father Moosie Drier). His First wife, Janice Rose Hall and his third wife, Nancy Beth Ciskey.
The family will be at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock, Texas for a viewing on Monday the 29th from 5pm to 6:30pm.
Services will be held at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main Street, Lubbock, TX 79401, on Tuesday the 30th at 2pm with the burial immediately following at The City of Lubbock Cemetery.
