Graveside funeral service for Dr. Dewey L. Parker will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Fort Sill National Cemetery with Paul Sparks officiating.
Burial with military honors will be under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
Dr. Dewey L. Parker, 98, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in Edmond, Oklahoma. He was born on February 17, 1926, in the Eastview community near Brinkman, Oklahoma, to Fred F. and Josie M. (Wilemon) Parker. On October 8, 1954, he married Margaret See in Lawton, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 1, 2021.
A proud World War II veteran, Dewey enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from high school. He served with the 342nd Infantry Division and received numerous awards for his service. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he pursued higher education, earning a bachelor's degree from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma. He later obtained both a master's degree and a doctorate from the University of Oklahoma.
Dewey was a dedicated and accomplished educator. In 1988, he retired from Cameron University, where he had served as the Director of Student Teaching. His contributions to education were recognized in 2000 when he was inducted into the Cameron University Faculty Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his son, Keith Parker and his fianc?, Lori Whittern; three grandchildren, Lauren Parker, Brock Parker and Brandon Parker; and one brother, Junior Parker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers and one sister.
