Doctor Bruce Albert Gustafson died Wednesday November 15th ,2022. He was born to Clara Helena Pieper and Albert August Gustafson in Ellsworth, Maine, on May 25, 1934. He grew up in Washington, DC where he became an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He was baptized, confirmed, and served as an honor acolyte in the Episcopal Church. He served his country as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He received undergraduate, doctorate, and post doctorate degrees at the University of North Carolina. He practiced orthodontics in Winston-Salem and Mt. Airy for 41 years. Throughout his life he served his profession, his university, the Winston-Salem community, and the state of North Carolina in many ways. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of almost 53 years, Jo Ann Martin Gustafson, his daughter and son-in-law, Frances Holbrook Gustafson and William F. Lyon, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. His two sisters Joan Clara Fuller and Jean Anne Klima predeceased him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 18th at 1:00 pm at Forsyth Memorial Park, 3771 Yadkinville Rd., Winston-Salem, NC, 27106. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following at Salem Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Rd with a reception following at the funeral home.
