Doyle Wayne "Doc" Driver, 77, of Plainview, TX, went to be with his lord and savior on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11:00 in the morning at First Baptist Church in the Chapel. A Graveside service will directly follow in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.
The family of Mr. Driver will host a visitation on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 6:00pm until 8:00pm, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Plainview.
Doyle was born on April 5, 1947, to Herman and Alma Driver. He was raised in Seth Ward, TX. He graduated from Plainview High in 1965. In January of 1968, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, where he served twenty months in Germany. After returning to the states in 1970, he met and married the love of his life, Mary Lockeby. Doyle and Mary were married on December 4, 1970, at First Baptist Church in Halfway, TX. They lived in Hale Center, TX, until 1974 and then moved to Plainview, TX, where he worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 30 years. He earned the nickname "Doc" from family and friends, as they teased him for being "a road doctor" working for the highway department. Doyle and Mary were married for forty-eight wonderful years. They enjoyed traveling all over the states together, square dancing, hosting game nights and spending precious time with family and friends.
Doyle was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; his Parents; two Brothers, J.C. Driver and Sonny Driver and his wife Erna; sister, Marie Atkins and her husband James; and niece, Cindy Hall Wieland.
Doyle is survived by his Sister-in-law, Joy Driver; Brother-in-law, David Hall and his wife Diane; Brother-in-law, Paul Sawayer and his wife Pat; Sister-in-law, Alice Lockeby; Nephew, Jay Driver and his wife Dolly; Nephew, Jeffrey Driver; Niece, Sondra Loafman and her husband Roy; Niece, Mary Pevehouse and her husband James; Nephew, Keith Wieland; two great nieces who were like grandchildren, Kenzie Bolton and her husband Kaden, and Kaitlyn Wieland and her fianc? Latham Massey; as well as many beloved cousins, great nieces, great nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
