Douglas "Pete" W. Perry, 79, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on August 11, 1941 and was a son of the late William H. Perry, Sr. and Blanche Horner Perry.
He graduated from Cambridge High School. Mr. Perry served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. On August 12, 1966, he married the former Carol Valliant, who passed away on August 14, 2019. Mr. Perry worked at Caldwell Casting and later at Western Publishing. He enjoyed fishing. Mr. Perry was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.
He is survived by a daughter Kim James and husband Eddie of Cambridge, a granddaughter Caitlin Cannon and husband Thurman of Cambridge, a grandson John James of East New Market, a great granddaughter Kylee Cannon and a great grandson Brycen Cannon, a sister Sonja Kozak of Cambridge, three brothers George Wayne Perry of Felton, DE, Ronnie Perry of Tangier Island, VA, and Bobby Perry and wife Evelyn of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, Mr. Perry is preceded death by a brother William H. Perry, Jr.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Mr. Gary Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Face mask and social distance is required.
