Mishawaka, IN-Douglas Smith, 72, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Doug was born on November 8, 1948, in Mishawaka, IN to the late Leonard and Pauline (Miller) Smith. On August 15, 1987, in Mishawaka, Doug married the former Barbara Royce who survives. Also surviving Doug are his daughters, Michelle (Chuck) Somogyi and Tracy Coates both of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Brittany (Jeith), Isaak (Kelsi) & Zack (Jacklyn) Somogyi, Waltter (Colleen), Xayen & Cammy Brevard; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Meyers of Osceola; brother, Terry (Peachy) Smith of Niles and many nieces and nephews.
Doug proudly served in the US Army and was a Vietnam War vet. During his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan. Most of all, Doug loved his family. His sense of humor will truly be missed.
Friends may visit family 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, Monday, January 18, 2021, at Hahn Funeral Home in Mishawaka. Services will follow at 6:00 pm with Military Rites. Cremation will take place after the service. For those wishing to join, a live-streamed funeral service will also be available beginning at 5:50 pm.
