Douglas Scott Shackelford - age 56 of Strawberry Plains was peacefully delivered safely into the hands of Jesus on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was a member of Holston Baptist Church. Douglas inspired people through his suffering and dependence on God. Preceded in death by mother, Maxine Shackelford. Survived by father, Samuel (Karen) Shackelford; sister, Cynthia (Robin) Smelcer; best friend and "brother of the heart", Jerry Skelton; dear friend, Randy Suthers; dog, Harley; horses, Missy and Walker; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, July 30, 2021, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM with Rev. Toby Downey officiating. Burial will be private.
