Douglas Reed Adams passed away Monday September 16, 2024. He was born October 12th, 1936, in Rigby, Idaho to Reed and Olive Finn Adams.
His family moved to Basalt, Idaho in 1946 where learned the value of hard work. After graduating from Firth High School in 1954, he discovered his talent and love for the meat business. In 1962, he and his wife established Doug's Wholesale Meats in Shelley serving premium meats to Southeast Idaho.
Doug was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. His priorities were his faith in God, his love for his family and others. He cared deeply for those around him. He was generous, donating to his favorite charities and helping those around him.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various leadership callings throughout the years. In 2023, he was greatly honored by serving as the Grand Marshal of the Shelley Spud Day Parade.
Doug is survived by his wife Arlene of 69 years. Their children Debbie (Ivan) Landon, Steven (Tammy) Adams, Gaylene Adams, Randy (Evalyn) Adams, Julene (Bruce) Fitzgerald as well as 13 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his daughter Sandra Adams, his-parents and 3 siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Shelley Stake Center, 325 E Locust. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street and Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
