Dottie Bell quietly passed away Thursday evening January 9th at 7:30 PM. She was born May 25, 1938 in Suffolk, Virginia. She married Richard Bell on Christmas Eve, 1970.
In 1977, she joined Bell Engineering Inc as vice president in charge of sales and marketing. She then went back to school and studied Metallurgy, machine building, machine shop, and drafting. She brought in McDonald Aircraft, Boeing, Sikorsky Helicopter, Newport Shipyard and the Submarine base at Groton Connecticut Shipyard. Her biggest thrill was 10k and marathon running every other weekend which yielded a bookcase of trophies. She also sang in local musicals like My Fair Lady, Die Fledermas, Fiddler on the Roof, and many more.
In 2001, she and her husband retired and moved to Marco Island where she enjoyed the sun and freedom from sales work. Unfortunately, in early 2023 she discovered she had a genetic predisposition to the disease ALS and quietly went to her savior for the rest of eternity on January 9th.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18 from 11-1, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 at Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 E. Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, FL 34145. Burial to follow at Marco Island Cemetery.
