DORYS SANDRA SUSSMAN passed away in Dallas, Texas on December 30, 2020. Dorys was born in Staten Island, NY to Murray and Edith Rosen on June 14, 1936, and moved to West Palm Beach, FL where she grew up and graduated from West Palm Beach High School. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami, and taught elementary school in the Coral Gables school district. She retained a strong focus on education throughout her life.Dorys and her husband, Paul, to whom she remained devoted for 47 years until his passing in 2004, moved to Texas in 1961, where she raised her family and worked for 25 years as a community liaison for the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, where she welcomed new residents to the Dallas community and combined two of her passions - Jewish culture and conversing with anyone, friend or stranger. In her spare time, she loved playing Mahjong and going to the movies and dinner with friends. Dorys was confident and assertive, loyal and dedicated to family, and had a keen sense of humor and laughed easily. Dorys is preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Murray Rosen, and her husband, Paul. She is survived by her children Ronnie and wife Gigi, Nancy and Bobby, and her grandchildren Layton, Owen, Sam, Evan and Reed, to whom she was a proud and doting Nana. The family will hold a private graveside service. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the warm and caring staff of Crystal Creek at Preston Hollow, who provided Dorys with wonderful care in her final years.
