Dorthy "Dot" Braswell Maddox, age 90, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Antioch Christian Church with Pastor Ken May and Pastor Bradley Maddox officiating. Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Maddox will lie-in-state at the church on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Mrs. Maddox was a devoted lifetime member of Antioch Christian Church. She retired from Sears & Roebuck after 43 years of service. A few of her favorite pastimes were reading, baking, gardening, canning and working in the yard. Dot was a giving person and loved taking care of everyone, especially her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Maddox; parents, W.J. & Cora Braswell; and siblings, Lowell Braswell and Marjorie Howard. Survivors include her son, Dwayne Maddox (Alanna); grandchildren, Selena Homiller (Thomas) and Bradley Maddox; great-grandchild, Oliver Homiller; sister, Liz Lathem; sister-in-law, Margaret Wheeler; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
