The family of Dorris Sanderson will celebrate her life of 90 years and 36 days at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Lubbock. Burial will follow in Levelland, TX. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She passed on Sunday, October 10, 2021. Dorris was born on September 4, 1931, to Roy Lane and Mary Elizabeth Keller in Cobleland, Texas.
Dorris graduated as Valedictorian from Whiteface High School with the class of 1950. In 1953, Dorris graduated from Lubbock Memorial School of Nursing.
Dorris married Lee Sanderson on December 28, 1953, at 5th Street Baptist Church in Levelland, Texas. They were married for 63 years before Lee's death in 2015. Lee and Dorris were owners of Hagerman Lumber Supply Inc. in Hagerman, New Mexico. Following their retirement in 1993, they moved to Lubbock and became active members of Calvary Baptist Church. Dorris was involved with the church orchestra and Helping Hands Sunday School class.
Survivors include her children; Carma (Bill) Wilson, Mark (Jacquelyn) Sanderson, Belva (Ruben) Flores; grandchildren, Christopher Worsham, Courtney (Travis) Lanning, Braden (Tara) Sanderson, Ben (Tasha) Teel, Roland (Taylor) Flores and Paul Wilson; great grandchildren, Clarabelle Worsham, Jackson and Harper Lanning, Jason Paul Teel II, Benjamin Teel, ZoeClaire Teel, Cash and Macy Margaret Flores.
Dorris was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Beth Keller; husband, Lee Sanderson; grandson, Jason Teel; siblings, Farris Keller, Verdis Keller, Charlene Bentley, and Micki Smith.
